When & Where
Sundays, 12:00 - 13:30
In the Youth Centre, next to the church. Children go over after they receive Holy Communion.
This year’s classes began on Sunday 13 September 2026 and run through the academic year.
The Sunday School runs during Fellowship after Liturgy, so the children learn about the faith at their own level while their parents join the parish meal.
We want our children to grow up with good Christian values and an Orthodox outlook. The tutors, led by Larisa, are all volunteers, DBS-checked and trained. They explain the faith in practical and simple terms, answer the children’s questions, and encourage them to keep learning. Each year ends with a small ceremony after the Divine Liturgy, with certificates and small gifts for their efforts.
For Parents
A few practical notes that help the sessions run smoothly.
Little Ones
For children under five, or any child not yet comfortable on their own, we ask that a parent or guardian stays on hand during the session. Our teachers lead the teaching and activities but cannot take on the full care of very young children.
At Holy Communion
Please allow the Sunday School children and their teachers to come forward first in the Communion line, so that the children can go straight to their session with as much settled time as possible.
Small Tasks to Take Home
The children are sometimes given a little something to prepare, such as choosing a saint and bringing back their name, an icon, or a short story from their life. Parents' help with these is warmly appreciated.

July 2026
The Summer Day-Camp
In July 2026, with the blessing of Archbishop Atanasie, the parish held its first Orthodox Summer Day-Camp: twenty children aged 5 to 13, over three days at the Youth Centre, with church services, games, activities and challenges. The days included:
- Divine Liturgy on the feast of the Prophet Elijah, and lessons on the Old Testament prophets and the Church's chant
- A guided tour of the church, explaining the liturgical space and the sacred vessels
- Dance, music and rhythm workshops, archery, and football
- A half-day treasure hunt of puzzles, coded messages and clues, ending with ice cream
- The closing “Invisible Backpack” workshop on kindness, courage, and making good choices
We hope the camp will become a regular part of parish life. It depends on volunteers to help with food, organisation, setting up, supervising groups and running workshops, and teenagers are welcome to help with the younger children. Even a few hours help. Speak to the clergy if you can offer time.

Prayer at Home
The Sunday School teaches the children to pray. The habit is formed at home, in a few short moments each day.
