Fellowship after Liturgy
Sundays, after the Divine Liturgy
A shared meal for the whole parish after the Sunday Liturgy. It is the easiest way to meet people, and where most newcomers start.
Saturday Kitchen Club
Saturdays from 6pm to 8pm
Prepares the Sunday meal. Extra help is always welcome, and so is a dish for the table.
The Choir
At the services
Sings the Liturgy and the other services. Orthodox worship is almost entirely sung, so the choir has a central part in every service.
Durham University Orthodox Christian Society
The Orthodox student society at Durham University. The parish began as a university mission, and students remain a large part of it.

Every fortnight or so, from autumn 2026
A peer support group for men, starting this autumn: a place to talk things over and look out for one another, meeting in the Youth Centre. It is led by Churchwarden Amir and Reader Alexander John. Ask either of them for details.
Embroidery Workshop
Saturdays from 3pm to 4pm
Hand-embroiders vestments and church textiles. One of two workshops started in the past year.
Iconography Workshop
Saturdays from 3pm to 4pm
Learns and practises the painting of icons in the Orthodox tradition. The second of the parish's new workshops.
Byzantine Chanting and Typikon Classes
Fridays from 7pm to 8pm
Learn how to chant in the Byzantine style and how to read the Typikon.
Joining a Group
Every group is open to newcomers, and there is nothing to sign up to: just speak to any of the clergy after the Liturgy, or stay for the meal and ask.
