Welcome to the Orthodox Church in Durham,
an English-speaking Eastern Orthodox parish of the Romanian Patriarchate, and a meeting point of all Orthodox faithful and enquirers into the faith residing in the area.
We are a mixed Eastern Orthodox parish under the pastoral care of Metropolitan Iosif of Western and Central Europe (Romanian Patriarchate).
Our worship is strengthened by the prayers of Christians from different Orthodox backgrounds, including English, Greek, Romanian, Russian, German, Bulgarian, Georgian and Polish Orthodox Christians, as well as guests from other churches. We celebrate mainly in English, with hymns and readings also in Greek, Romanian and Slavonic.
The Orthodox Church of St Cuthbert and St Bede, Durham is a registered charity (number 1181914).
Our services take place in our own church in Durham City (DH1 1RS), see map below. After 3 years of celebrating in the splendid Church of St Oswald, new church on Providence Row is our permanent home now. All are welcome!
